APPLICATION DEADLINES

WELCOME

Attention:

Thank you for your interest in the Langley Aerospace Research Student Scholars (LARSS) program. LARSS will be ending at the end of September 2014 after one final summer session, and the application period for that summer session has closed. As of Fall 2014, Langley internships will be through the agency-wide NASA Internships, Fellowships, and Scholarships (NIFS) program.

If you are a student who is interested in interning at NASA Langley, or any of the NASA centers, I would encourage you to submit an application for an upcoming NIFS Internship term by going tohttps://intern.nasa.gov/ossi/web/public/main/ and clicking on either the “First Time Student Users Register” or “Current Student User Login” buttons on the right hand side of the page.

If you are a career counselor, teacher, professor, parent, or friend who knows of students who are interested in interning at NASA please encourage them to submit an application using these instructions.

The application periods for upcoming terms are:

·          Fall 2014: 03/02/2014 - 06/01/2014

·          Spring 2015: 06/02/2014 - 10/12/2014

·          Summer 2015: 11/01/2014 - 03/01/2015

We certainly appreciate students with passion and enthusiasm. Thanks again for your interest in NASA and Langley!

Welcome to the NASA Langley Research Center home of the Langley Aerospace Research Student Scholars (LARSS) program

Located in Hampton Virginia and established in 1917, NASA Langley engineers and scientists continue their award-winning research and development efforts to pioneer the future of flight (including entry, descent, and landing) in all atmospheres; the characterization of all atmospheres; space exploration systems and technology; and structural materials concepts, analysis, and integration.

LARSS is a year round (3 sessions) paid, research, internship program for undergraduate and graduate students − pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).  It is also a highly competitive program.  We annually received about 1,000 applications from which 200 students are accepted.  LARSS is also a nationally ranked internship program.  In 2011 the staff of Vault−Career Intelligence reviewed over 800 national internships and named LARSS one of its top 10 best internship programs.  For over 25 years, the LARSS program continues to help preserve U.S. leadership in engineering and science by providing exceptional students from across the United States the opportunity to work with Langley researchers on some of the nation’s most vexing and important challenges and problems.

Please note the NASA LARSS application is not part of NASA OSSI.

Do not hesitate to contact me or the LARSS program administrator, Ms. Debbie Murray, if you have questions or need additional information.  I can be reached by telephone at 757.864.2491 and by email at jen.keyes@nasa.gov.

Best Wishes,
